Me and my invention

I just joined this forum a few days ago and am making this intro posting. I'm 6 feet tall even. I forgot to mention that in the video. I use to play playground basketball back in the 1980's and early 90's until health problems forced me to stop playing. I just bought a cheap basketball today and may get some exercise just shooting hoops and running after the ball at a nearby playground.

I invented something that may interest a lot of you. I couldn't find anything like it on the internet, so I made one myself. It's a "hand spread stretcher". Bought the Velcro strips at Walmart.

Last time I played basketball. 1995. Got to relearn all skills over again. If you're aging, don't quit BB. It may help keep you feeling younger.

cool Russ, thanks for sharing!

i personally wouldn't use something like that for a few reasons:
1. just don't think it would be more effective than "manual" hand stretching - and i don't know if manual hand stretching would help much
2. i feel like palming exercises with an actual ball (or slightly smaller etc), would be more effective
3. i also feel like general hand strength exercises would be more effective (pinch grip training for example), to just improve overall finger strength/dexterity

that said, i'm sure people would try it though.

also, your hand looks enormous in that video, lmao. could just be the camera angle/distortion though. :ninja:

peace man & welcome!

Thanks adarqui. I will measure my right hand spread sometime today and post a pic with a tape measure to show it's size and then try my stretcher for a few months and then measure again to see what happens. You are correct about just practice palming a basketball. I played ball right handed, and due to that, my right hand spread is wider than my left hand even though I haven't played ball since about 1993.

ya i can imagine it would lead to some extra hand "size" (musculature, bone density, etc) on the dominant hand. i recall it's similar with leg length inequality also (due to the overuse of the dominant jumping leg w/ layups etc), but i could be wrong.. dno just did a quick search, probably alot more on it:

Been a long time since I've come here. My invention did work on my left hand. I play basketball right handed and my right hand spread was wider than my left. Using the contraption worked on my left hand spread that it now equals my right hand spread. Right hand spread did not get bigger. Hand spread between my pinky and thumb is about 9.25 inches each hand.
